概述
Mystacoleucus ectypus 是老挝和泰国湄公河中游的鲤科鱼，背鳍末端有三角形暗斑，但没有一些近似种的黑鳍边和新月形黑鳞缘。背鳍前向前伏倒的小棘，移动时可能勾住网眼。
分布与栖息地
已知于湄公河中游流域，可能局限于呵叻高原一带。泰国记录包括东北部蒙河和颂堪河，老挝也有南芒河等支流记录。
生活于流动的低地河道、流速较快的支流及中小型河流，底质常为岩石和砾石。
补充说明
辨别时应同时查看背鳍尖三角斑、无黑色鳍缘、无黑色新月状鳞纹等特征，须可能缺失或仅很弱地发育。不能只因和另一种都有背鳍暗斑就混为同种。
同属共有的背鳍前棘可能藏得不明显，捕捞时却会缠网，发生卡住时应避免强行拉扯。种加词也与这一位置的小隆起和棘有关。

Overview
Mystacoleucus ectypus occurs in the middle Mekong region of Laos and Thailand. A triangular dorsal-tip mark is present, but the dark fin margins and crescent-like scale markings of some relatives are absent. Its small forward-facing predorsal spine can snag during netting.
Distribution & habitat
It is known from the middle Mekong basin and may be restricted to the Khorat Plateau region. Thai records include the northeastern Mun and Songkhram systems, with additional Lao tributaries such as the Nam Mang.
Habitats include flowing lowland channels, rapid tributaries, and small to medium rivers over rock and gravel.
Notes
Check the complete combination of a triangular dorsal-tip blotch, lack of black fin edging, and absence of dark crescent-shaped scale marks. Barbels may be absent or only rudimentary. Sharing a dorsal blotch with another species is not enough to establish identity.
The forward-directed spine before the dorsal fin is shared across the genus. It may be inconspicuous but still catch in mesh, so avoid forceful pulling if a fish becomes trapped. The epithet refers to the small raised area and spine in this region.
