概述
单吻鱼（Gymnostomus lineatus）是东南亚河流中的鲤科鱼，体侧有五至六条淡而细的纵线，具一对短小上颌须而无吻须。花纹本身较淡，辨认时需结合这些形态特征。
分布与栖息地
记录涉及中国云南、老挝、泰国和柬埔寨的湄公河水系，也见于泰国中部湄南河流域。通常采自中大型河道，在湄公河流域还会进入较小支流和被水淹没的田地。模式产地在泰国湄南河水系的一条支流。
补充说明
相关鱼类曾被归入多个不同属，旧文献名称不一致。现有命名处理与部分分子亲缘研究之间仍存在分歧，因此不能把每个旧属名都理解成另一种鱼；核对完整学名、须和条纹比单看属名更有帮助。

Overview
A pair of small upper-jaw barbels and five or six faint lengthwise flank lines help recognize Gymnostomus lineatus. Rostral barbels are absent. Because the stripes are subtle, identification should consider the combination of features rather than color alone.
Distribution & habitat
Records extend across the Mekong system in Yunnan, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia, with additional occurrences in Thailand's Chao Phraya basin. Medium and large river channels are the most frequent collection settings. In the Mekong region it also enters smaller tributaries and flooded fields. The type locality is a Thai tributary within the Chao Phraya system.
Notes
Several genera have historically accommodated this fish and its relatives. Nomenclatural treatment and some molecular relationships have not been entirely consistent. An older generic label therefore need not imply a different species; the full name and diagnostic features deserve greater attention.
