概述
Garra theunensis 是体形较大的墨头鱼，成鱼可达约 30 cm，体与鳍整体呈褐色，有时可见数条很淡的纵纹。不能将它与小型食藻鱼混为一谈，身份和成年尺寸应在购入前核对。
分布与栖息地
见于老挝湄公河水系的南屯河、南努昂河，以及泰国难河。名称与采得模式系列的南屯河有关。
它偏向源头河段和支流中的急流水域，而非低地大型河道。较适宜的环境水质清澈、溶氧充分，光照和流水共同支持水下表面形成丰富生物膜。
补充说明
从背面看吻部呈三角形，有小突起而没有横沟。整体褐色、有时带浅淡纵纹的外观，需与其他外形接近的墨头鱼谨慎区分。
墨头鱼类群具有吸附及刮食结构，但生物膜丰富的栖息地描述并不能直接给出本种在缸内的完整食谱。成鱼体形大，也不能因幼鱼外观朴素就忽略其成年空间需求。

Overview
Garra theunensis is a substantial garra reaching about 30 cm. The body and fins are generally brown, sometimes showing several faint longitudinal lines. It should not be confused with a small aquarium algae-eater; verify identity and adult dimensions before purchase.
Distribution & habitat
Records come from the Nam Theun and Nam Gnouang systems within the Mekong drainage in Laos, together with Thailand's Nan River. The name refers to the Nam Theun, where the type series was collected.
It favors rapid headwater and tributary sections over large lowland channels. Clear, highly oxygenated water and sunlight support abundant biofilm on submerged surfaces in suitable habitats.
Notes
The snout is triangular when viewed from above, with small tubercles but no transverse groove. Plain brown coloration and occasional weak longitudinal lines need careful comparison with similar garras.
Adhesive and scraping structures characterize the wider group, but a biofilm-rich habitat is not a complete feeding prescription for this species. Its large adult size remains relevant even when a juvenile appears unremarkable.
