概述
显赫墨头鱼（Garra notata）吻部没有横沟，也没有突出吻突，背鳍鳍条基部的一列深色斑点很有辨识度。身体下部与腹部有无鳞区域，但它并非全身无鳞。
分布与栖息地
确定记录在缅甸、中国云南和泰国西部的萨尔温江流域，以及缅甸南部、泰国西部的德林达依水系。印度西高止山脉记录很可能有误，伊洛瓦底江上游记录也需确认。偏向清澈富氧、硬表面有生物膜的急流源头与支流。
补充说明
辨识应把吻部结构、背鳍基部斑点及鳞片分布一起看，不能把所有口部能吸附的溪流鱼都归作同一种。它的产地边界尤其容易受旧记录误认影响。

Overview
Garra notata lacks both a transverse snout groove and a projecting proboscis. Dark spots along the bases of the dorsal rays are useful visible characters. Scaleless areas occur underneath, rather than across the entire fish.
Distribution & habitat
Verified occurrence covers the Salween and Tenasserim systems in Myanmar, western Thailand and Yunnan. Indian Western Ghats reports are doubtful, while an upper Irrawaddy record is unresolved. Swift, clear tributaries with oxygen-rich water are typical habitat.
Notes
Assess snout structure, fin-base spots and scale distribution together. Historical misidentifications complicate its supposed range, so a broad locality label alone is not sufficient proof.
