概述
奇额墨头鱼（Garra mirofrontis）最有辨识度的是双眼前方横跨吻部的沟，以及分叉吻突两端的锥形角质突起。它来自云南澜沧江流域的流水环境。
分布与栖息地
原产中国云南澜沧江水系，模式产地为勐仑。临沧云县的洛闸河一处典型记录为石质底、流速强的河段，高水位时约宽 25 m、深 1 m。这样的现场记录反映自然栖地，并非完整的人工饲养参数范围。
补充说明
吻突和额沟应组合观察，不能仅因口部有吸附结构就与其他墨头鱼混同。墨头鱼属的外形变化很大，物种辨识仍依赖具体头部结构及产地。

Overview
A groove across the snout immediately before the eyes and a forked process tipped with conical tubercles make Garra mirofrontis distinctive. It is a Yunnan fish associated with the upper Mekong drainage.
Distribution & habitat
Known distribution lies within the Lancang basin in Yunnan, with the type locality at Menglun. A documented Yunxian habitat is a strongly flowing, predominantly rocky channel roughly twenty-five meters across at high water. Such a field observation describes one habitat rather than defining captive tolerance limits.
Notes
Use the frontal groove and forked process together as identification characters. An adhesive mouth alone is not enough to separate this fish from other members of a morphologically diverse genus.
