瓣结鱼（Folifer brevifilis）是大型流水鱼，观赏贸易中极少见。成鱼体型和游动需求使它不适合多数家庭缸，准备饲养时应先确认能够提供长期宽阔空间。
分布与栖息地
记录包括中国南部及缅甸、泰国、老挝、越南的湄公河、萨尔温江、伊洛瓦底江和一些较小河系，也见于海南、香港。主要活动于大河中下游有流动的河段，不见于静止水体，可能进行季节性繁殖迁移。
饲养环境
用沙、细砾、大小不同的圆石和少量沉木模拟河床，留足开阔泳道。耐受的附生水草可固定在石木上。过滤系统要成熟，水体应稳定、清洁且富氧，维持适度水流，每周换水约 30%～50%。它可能具有很强的跳跃能力，需装贴合的缸盖。
食性与喂食
野生鱼似乎取食软体动物及其他水生无脊椎动物，也吃藻类与有机碎屑。这个组成仍带观察上的不确定性，不宜把它简单视为纯食藻鱼。
习性与混养
不适合一般小型混养缸；若设施足够，可考虑体型接近、同样适应流水的鲤科鱼、鲶鱼或其他鱼类。
雌雄区分
繁殖期雌鱼可能更厚实，但可靠雌雄差异尚未确认。

Overview
Folifer brevifilis is rarely imported as an ornamental fish and is unsuitable for most domestic aquaria. Its eventual size and riverine requirements demand a substantial long-term enclosure, not simply temporary space for a juvenile.
Distribution & habitat
The range spans major river systems in southern China and mainland Southeast Asia, with additional records from Hainan and Hong Kong. It occupies flowing middle and lower river reaches rather than standing water. Seasonal movement associated with reproduction is possible.
Aquarium setup
Reserve broad swimming routes between rounded rocks and limited woodwork. Tough attached plants are optional. Introduce the fish only to an established biological system and maintain clean oxygenated water with useful circulation. Weekly replacement of roughly 30–50% is recommended. A secure cover is prudent because powerful jumping is considered likely.
Diet & feeding
Wild feeding reportedly includes mollusks and other invertebrates together with algae and organic debris. The description is tentative and does not support treating the fish as an exclusively algal grazer.
Behaviour & compatibility
Suitable companions must be comparable in size and comfortable in the same riverine conditions. Ordinary small community fishes are inappropriate for the enclosure this species needs.
Sexual dimorphism
Females may become fuller when carrying eggs, but reliable sex differences have not been established.
Notes
A pointed snout, downward-facing mouth and prominent central lower-lip lobe are useful visible features of the genus.
