概述
Amblyrhynchichthys micracanthus 是中南半岛的河流鲤科鱼，雨季会利用淹水森林。辨认时应注意它较平直的钝吻和较短的背鳍硬棘，旧资料中的近似种名称可能实际指向本种。
分布与栖息地
分布于老挝、泰国、柬埔寨和越南的湄公河流域，老挝万象省是已知范围的上游边界；泰国的达比河、湄南河和美功河水系也有记录。
平时生活在河流中，约 6–9 月的雨季会进入淹没森林。幼鱼也见于沼泽和被洪水淹没的田地，不能仅用成年河道环境概括全部生活阶段。
食性与喂食
野外食物包括附着生物、浮游植物、浮游动物和底栖藻类，既利用植物性成分，也摄入小型动物。现有信息不支持把它简单描述为只吃藻的鱼。
补充说明
本种正式描述前，中南半岛大陆的相关记录曾使用近似种的名称。相比近似种，它的吻部侧面更平直、背鳍硬棘较短，鳃耙数量也较少。核对旧记录时，应把名称使用背景与形态特征一并考虑。

Overview
A river cyprinid from mainland Southeast Asia, Amblyrhynchichthys micracanthus also uses flooded forest during the wet season. Its blunt, relatively straight snout profile and short dorsal spine help distinguish it from a similar species under whose name older records were published.
Distribution & habitat
The range includes the Mekong in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, with Vientiane province marking the known upstream limit in Laos. Thailand's Tapi, Chao Phraya, and Mae Klong systems are also occupied.
Fish enter inundated forest during the wet season, approximately June through September. Juveniles have additionally been observed in swamps and flooded fields, showing that habitat use extends beyond the permanent river channel.
Diet & feeding
Natural intake combines attached growth, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and bottom algae. Both plant-based resources and small animals contribute; describing it simply as an algae eater would omit part of the observed diet.
Notes
Before this species was described, older mainland Indochinese records used the name of a congener. A more truncated snout, shorter dorsal spine, and fewer gill rakers help separate the two. Historical names therefore need interpretation alongside the fish's actual features.
