概述
宽口光唇鱼（Acrossocheilus monticola）体侧有七至八条深色竖纹，每条宽约一至三枚鳞片；这一条纹组合在光唇鱼属中很有辨识意义。
分布与栖息地
本种似乎是中国长江上游的特有鱼类。模式产地记为流入长江宜昌峡谷的一条山溪，种名也有“山地居住者”的含义。
食性与喂食
野生个体会摄食小型底栖无脊椎动物，也刮取石头和其他坚硬表面的生物膜。这样的取食记录说明，附着物与小型动物都是其利用的食物来源。
补充说明
除体侧竖纹外，可结合光唇鱼属的口部特征辨识：口位偏下，唇部肉质，下唇中央断开，并有两对须。

Overview
The flank pattern of Acrossocheilus monticola consists of seven or eight dark bars, each only one to three scales across. This combination provides a useful distinguishing feature within its genus.
Distribution & habitat
It appears confined to China's upper Yangtze drainage. The original locality was described as a mountain stream entering the Yangtze's Ichang gorge, and the species name likewise alludes to a mountain-dwelling fish.
Diet & feeding
Wild feeding observations include small bottom-living invertebrates and the removal of attached biofilms from rock or other hard surfaces. Both surface growth and animal prey therefore contribute to its natural feeding activity.
Notes
Additional recognition features shared with other members of the genus include fleshy lips around a downward-facing mouth, an interrupted lower lip and two pairs of barbels. These are useful context when examining the distinctive bar pattern.
