概述
小尾鲀（Tetraodon miurus）是埋砂伏击型淡水河豚，常只露出高位眼睛等待猎物。它并不需要不断游动，却需要可钻入的深软砂床；能吞下的鱼会被吃掉，更大的鱼也可能被咬去肉块。
分布与栖息地
来自刚果共和国和刚果民主共和国的大河，有时出现在水流很强、甚至急流的区域。
饲养环境
可参考 75 × 30 × 30 厘米，因为它并不特别活跃。纯淡水无需加盐，软砂铺约 5–8 厘米深，让鱼完整表现埋伏行为。光滑石块和沉木提供额外遮蔽，也可种植物；缺少可钻的底床时，它有时会改以外观模仿石头。
食性与喂食
天然为伏击肉食者，可喂适口虾、蚯蚓、小鱼肉和贝肉等。部分新到个体起初只吃活饵，但多数能逐渐接受非活饵，不必把所有个体的拒食反应看作永久习惯。
习性与混养
不适合与其他鱼同住，也完全不宽容同种。少数与有甲鲶类共存的经验不能保证安全，吞不了的伙伴仍可能被咬伤。
补充说明
大部分时间埋在底床等食物，上位眼睛和朝上的口有利于从下方攻击。体色可随状态变成深红或橙色，不能仅凭一次观察的颜色判断个体身份。

Overview
An ambush-hunting freshwater puffer, Tetraodon miurus spends much of its time concealed in the bottom. A deep bed of soft sand matters more than constant swimming room. It can swallow small fish and seriously injure larger companions, making solitary care appropriate.
Distribution & habitat
It occurs in large rivers of the Republic of Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo, sometimes in strong-flowing or rapid sections.
Aquarium setup
The suggested aquarium dimensions are 75 by 30 by 30 cm for this relatively inactive fish. Use freshwater without added salt and roughly 5–8 cm of soft sand for burial. Smooth rocks, wood, and optional plants provide additional cover. When burial is impossible, the fish may instead resemble an algal rock.
Diet & feeding
Offer a meaty diet appropriate to an ambush predator, including suitable prawns, earthworms, fish, and shellfish. Some individuals initially accept only live prey, but most can take nonliving alternatives once settled.
Behaviour & compatibility
Compatibility is poor with both other species and conspecifics. Occasional successful combinations with armored catfish do not make the arrangement dependable: fish too large to swallow can still suffer bites.
Notes
High-set eyes and an upturned mouth support attacks from below while the body remains hidden. Color can shift markedly toward red or orange with condition, so one observed shade is not a fixed identifying feature.
