概述
湄公河鲀（Tetraodon baileyi）体表有毛状皮突，外观特别，却是强攻击性、应当单养的河豚。它来自有岩石和急流的大河，既要有藏身处，也需要适度水流，不能按温和观赏鱼安排混养。
分布与栖息地
原生于泰国和老挝，生活在大河的岩石区域，包括湍急水段。
饲养环境
可参考 75 × 30 × 30 厘米的缸，砂底上布置光滑、经水磨圆的石块，组合出多个躲藏位置，并保持中等水流。它不会啃水草叶片，因此也可采用种植缸。
食性与喂食
提供适口贝类、蠕虫及活饵或冷冻饵，并定期喂螺、带壳贝类或蟹足等硬质食物。喙齿持续生长，缺少磨耗会妨碍正常摄食，不能只长期提供软肉。
习性与混养
应单尾饲养。喙状口能咬掉其他鱼的肉，严重时甚至撕碎对方；对同种也高度不宽容，不适合群养。
雌雄区分
毛状皮突是否可用于分性仍有相互矛盾的说法：有的认为雄鱼更多，也有的认为雌鱼完全没有，不能据此可靠分性。

Overview
Covered in unusual hair-like cirri, Tetraodon baileyi is an aggressive solitary aquarium subject. It comes from rocky large-river habitats, including whitewater. Shelter and moderate circulation are appropriate, but neither makes it a suitable community fish.
Distribution & habitat
It occurs in Thailand and Laos, occupying rocky parts of large rivers, including turbulent stretches.
Aquarium setup
A 75 by 30 by 30 cm aquarium is the suggested reference. Smooth rounded rocks over sand should create hiding places without filling all available space. Provide moderate current. Plants can be included because the fish does not chew their leaves.
Diet & feeding
Offer suitable shellfish, worms, and live or frozen foods. Regular snails and hard-shelled portions such as crab legs are needed to wear the continually growing dental plates. A soft-food-only routine can leave them overgrown and interfere with feeding.
Behaviour & compatibility
Keep it alone. The beak can remove substantial pieces from other fish and cause fatal injuries. Conspecific aggression is also strong enough that group housing is inappropriate.
Sexual dimorphism
Cirri are an unreliable sexing character. Reports differ over whether males merely have more or females lack them altogether.
Notes
The role of the cirri remains uncertain, with sex-related functions or camouflage suggested. Color changes with condition. Despite the textured surface, the fish is scaleless.
