概述
锯背兵鲶（Scleromystax prionotos）是巴西沿海水系的甲鲶，体侧骨板取代普通鳞片。它偶尔会到水面吞气，利用肠道辅助呼吸；捕捞和转移时则应注意胸鳍硬刺，避免刺伤。
分布与栖息地
已知分布限于巴西米纳斯吉拉斯、圣埃斯皮里图、里约热内卢和圣保罗等州的沿海河流系统。模式产地位于 Doce 河水系的 Juparaná 湖附近。
饲养环境
提供至少约 120 × 30 cm 的底面积，使用细沙底床较合适。圆滑砾石也可，但须保持非常洁净。其他布置可灵活选择，适当遮蔽能增加安全感。
食性与喂食

Overview
Scleromystax prionotos is an armored catfish from Brazilian coastal river systems. Bony plates replace ordinary scales, and occasional surface gulps provide supplementary air breathing. Care is required during transfer because the rigid pectoral spines can puncture skin.
Distribution & habitat
Its known range is limited to coastal drainages in Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, Brazil. The type locality lies near Lake Juparaná in the Doce system.
Aquarium setup
Allow a footprint of at least approximately 120 × 30 cm. Fine sand is a suitable floor material. Smooth gravel is an alternative only when kept exceptionally clean. Furnishings can vary, but some shelter should be included to provide security.
Diet & feeding
Offer sinking prepared foods with small live or frozen items such as bloodworms and Tubifex. Maintain variety and ensure the fish has direct access to food. It cannot be expected to subsist on other inhabitants' leftovers or replace routine substrate cleaning.
Notes
The serrated inner edge of the pectoral spine is reflected in the species name. These spines can inflict painful punctures. Secretions from glands near their bases have been suggested to be mildly toxic, but this remains uncertain.
