概述
Schistura sp. 1 是身份尚未厘清的环带型条鳅，对同种通常温和，受惊会钻入底砂。饲养时必须保留可钻入的砂区，不能只铺大石或粗砾；这项行为比不确定商品名更能指导布置。

饲养环境

食性与喂食
天然可能利用小昆虫、蠕虫、甲壳类及其他微小动物，少量摄入植物或碎屑。缸中能吃适口干粮，但每天仍应配小型活饵和冷冻饵，不宜仅用干粮。
习性与混养
建议至少四尾，同种陪伴似乎能改善状态。适应相同环境、温和且在开阔水层活动的鲤科鱼，可帮助它减少躲藏；其他温和沙栖鳅也可考虑。避免领地性强的近似条鳅，较复杂的组合只适合有充分空间的缸。
繁殖
人工繁殖尚无报告。

它曾被套用几个已命名种，但体侧暗带数量、条带与间隔比例、没有明显鳍斑等特征并不完全相符，产地也存在差异，保留暂定身份较稳妥。

Overview
An unidentified barred loach, Schistura sp. 1 is usually peaceful toward conspecifics and buries itself when startled. Accessible sand is therefore essential instead of an exclusively coarse or rocky floor.
Distribution & habitat
Trade fish are collected from the Torsa near Cooch Behar in northern West Bengal, India, while the full range remains unclear. The river’s international course does not establish fish records throughout it. Sand or another soft natural substrate is inferred from the observed burying response.
Aquarium setup
Keep at least part of the floor sandy, using smooth rocks and branches elsewhere to provide shaded crevices and retreats. Attached plants can be grown on the structure.
Maintain high oxygen and some movement without torrent conditions. Weekly changes of roughly 30–50% help prevent organic waste accumulation and maintain clean conditions.
Diet & feeding
Small insects, worms, crustaceans, and other tiny animals are probable natural foods, with limited plant material or detritus. Offer suitable dry products accompanied by daily small live or frozen foods.
Behaviour & compatibility
At least four are recommended, as conspecific company appears beneficial. Peaceful open-water cyprinids from similar conditions can help this retiring fish emerge more confidently. Suitable gentle sand-dwelling loaches are another option. Avoid forceful territorial relatives except in carefully planned, spacious setups.
Breeding
Captive reproduction is unreported.
Notes
Several named species have been suggested, but differences in bar counts, spacing, unmarked fins, and locality argue against confident assignment. Retaining a provisional identity is appropriate.
