概述
神仙南鳅（Schistura oedipus）是适应洞穴生活的鳅，身体没有色素，眼睛退化为皮肤下的痕迹。它不适合作为普通观赏鱼，认识其地下栖地和孤立种群比寻找人工饲养方法更有意义。
分布与栖息地
已知来自泰国西北湄宏顺府邦玛帕岩溶地区的五处洞穴。地下溪流最终连接萨尔温江水系，部分河段有跌水。洞穴之间的地形和地表河段限制鱼群往来，种群并非可以自由互通。
食性与喂食
据称摄食水生微生物与有机碎屑，但这仍是有限的自然史描述，不能直接作为已经验证的人工饲料方案。
雌雄区分
雄鱼可能具有增粗的第二条胸鳍鳍条，这一特征尚带不确定性。
补充说明
对五个洞穴群体的研究发现遗传分化，可归为三个群组，但差异尚未被据此认定为不同物种。它们是分别进入洞穴，还是来自一次进入后逐渐隔离，仍未解决。极小范围的地下种群需要重视各自栖地，不能把一处洞穴视为另一处的简单替代。

Overview
Schistura oedipus is a cave-adapted loach lacking body pigment, with eyes reduced to remnants beneath the skin. It is unsuitable as an ordinary ornamental fish. Its isolated underground populations are primarily of ecological and conservation interest.
Distribution & habitat
It is known from five caves in the Pang Mapha karst of northwestern Thailand. Flowing underground streams, sometimes interrupted by cascades, drain toward the Salween system. Terrain and intervening surface-water sections limit contact among cave populations.
Diet & feeding
Aquatic microorganisms and organic detritus have been suggested as food. That limited account does not establish a tested aquarium feeding method.
Sexual dimorphism
Males may possess a thickened second pectoral-fin ray. This remains a tentative character.
Notes
Genetic work found differences among the five cave populations, arranged into three groups, but did not treat them as separate species. Whether they arose from separate cave colonizations or one event followed by isolation remains unresolved. The narrow, isolated populations emphasize the importance of conserving their individual underground habitats.
