概述
杰氏南鳅（Schistura jarutanini）是适应地下洞穴生活的鳅，眼睛退化或消失，但身体仍保留一定色素。它的价值主要在于认识特殊地下生态，并不适合作为普通观赏鱼采购或饲养。

Overview
Schistura jarutanini is a cave-adapted loach with reduced or absent eyes but some remaining body pigmentation. Its significance is as a specialized subterranean fish, not as an ordinary aquarium candidate.
Distribution & habitat
It appears restricted to Ba Dan cave in western Thailand's Kanchanaburi region. Fish occupy deeper sections of the cave's underground stream. The narrow known range should not be expanded by applying the broad stream distribution of related loaches to this species.
Diet & feeding
Feeding on bottom-associated microorganisms has been suggested. This limited natural-history observation does not establish a dependable aquarium diet.
Notes
Eye reduction and pigment loss are among the adaptations associated with subterranean life. This species retains some pigment, so describing it as entirely unpigmented would be inaccurate. Cave fishes often have restricted distributions and limited food availability and can be vulnerable to habitat degradation. Protection of the original environment is more appropriate than treating this fish as an ornamental acquisition.
