Overview
Pseudopimelodus bufonius is a northeastern South American catfish known in trade as the Giant Bumblebee Catfish. The recorded 24.5 cm measurement is standard length, excluding the tail fin, rather than total length.
Distribution & habitat
Its range extends from Venezuela’s Maracaibo basin to eastern Brazil. The original type locality is uncertain, with Cayenne in French Guiana considered probable. That tentative locality should not be confused with the full geographical range.
