L038 is an undescribed Peckoltia from the lower Tocantins. Generally peaceful behavior is tempered by territoriality. Caves serve both as everyday refuges and as sites for male brood care.
Distribution & habitat
It is collected near Mocajuba on the lower Tocantins in Pará, Brazil. More precise natural habitat details are not established.
Aquarium setup
Use varied rocks, rounded stones, sand, and fine gravel for a flowing-stream arrangement. Wood, ceramic pipes, or pots create shaded caves and interrupted sight lines, giving the fish several secure options.
