记录来自委内瑞拉、圭亚那、苏里南和法属圭亚那的多条河流，包括奥里诺科河、埃塞奎博河及科兰太因河上游。模式产地在圭亚那图凯特。
圭亚那境内另有亚马孙水系记录，推测对应布朗库河上游所属的塔库图河流域，这一对应关系尚有不确定性。
饲养环境
底面积至少约 210 × 60 cm。可用沙底、少量落叶、大型沉木根枝和浮水植物布置自然风格环境，关键是不要牺牲活动空间和溶氧。

Overview
A large mature aquarium is essential for Leporinus arcus. Usable swimming room, oxygen supply, and stable water quality matter more than a specific decorative style. Small juveniles should not obscure the space required for long-term care.
Distribution & habitat
Records cover Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana, including the Orinoco, Essequibo, and upper Courantyne systems. The type locality is Tukeit in Guyana.
Additional Guyanese Amazon-basin records are presumed to involve the Takutu, part of the upper Branco system, but that geographical correspondence remains tentative.
Aquarium setup
Provide at least approximately 210 × 60 cm of floor space. Sand, a little leaf litter, substantial roots and branches, and floating vegetation can form a natural layout, provided space and oxygenation are not compromised.
Use established biological filtration and stable water conditions. An immature aquarium is unsuitable. Close-fitting covers are necessary to prevent jumping.
Diet & feeding
As a genus-level account, Leporinus generally feeds on bottom-associated algae, small invertebrates, and organic debris. This does not mean every component has been independently documented for this species.
Captive fish usually accept varied aquarium foods, but products with very high protein content should be avoided.
Breeding
Clear captive breeding accounts are lacking.
Notes
The species name may refer to curved upper and lower body stripes, although the original author did not explicitly explain it. The diverse genus has undergone taxonomic changes. A broad headstander label cannot replace species identification or establish compatibility from genus-level habits alone.
