概述
隐翅缺鳍鲶（Kryptopterus cryptopterus）来自马来半岛和巽他群岛，是较胆小、喜结群的鲶鱼。有些商品会称它为烟色玻璃鲶，仍应结合产地与形态核对，不能把旧中南半岛记录直接套入本种。

分布于马来半岛、新加坡、苏门答腊、婆罗洲及爪哇，模式地点在婆罗洲南加里曼丹。栖息流动的河流和较大溪流，水中常有悬浮沉积物。泰国、柬埔寨、老挝和越南过去归入本种的群体现属 Kryptopterus geminus。
饲养环境
底面积至少参考 120 × 45 厘米。造景形式较灵活，但应有遮蔽和柔和光线，缺少藏处可能受惊。水化学波动容易带来问题，只放入生物系统成熟稳定的缸。
食性与喂食
天然可能捕食甲壳类、其他无脊椎动物和小鱼。人工可用多样下沉饲料、活冷冻红虫、水蚯蚓，偶尔给适口小蚯蚓，无需依赖活鱼。
习性与混养
建议四尾以上群养，选择温和且大小相近的伙伴。比它大很多、过分活跃或强势的鱼会让它在竞争中落后；更小的鱼也可能被它捕食。
雌雄区分
成年雄鱼明显较纤细。胸鳍硬刺后缘是否在雄鱼有锯齿、雌鱼平滑存在相反说法，不能把这一点当作可靠标准。

Overview
A relatively timid schooling catfish, Kryptopterus cryptopterus comes from the Malay Peninsula and Sunda Islands. It sometimes appears under a smoky-glass-catfish trade label. Origin and shape matter because older mainland records involved a different species.
Distribution & habitat
The range includes the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Sumatra, Borneo, and Java. Flowing rivers and larger streams with sediment-laden water form its habitat. Former records from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam belong to Kryptopterus geminus.
Aquarium setup
Provide at least a 120 by 45 cm footprint. Decoration is flexible, but cover and subdued lighting reduce skittishness. Avoid an immature aquarium because shifts in water chemistry can be troublesome.
Diet & feeding
Natural feeding probably includes crustaceans, other invertebrates, and small fish. In captivity, varied sinking foods and small live or frozen invertebrates are suitable; live fish are not necessary.
Behaviour & compatibility
Keep four or more with peaceful companions of comparable size. Large boisterous fish can outcompete it, while very small fish may be taken as prey.
Sexual dimorphism
Mature males are noticeably slimmer. Reports disagree about sex differences in pectoral-spine serration, so that feature is unreliable.
Notes
A broader head with a shorter snout and anal fin helps distinguish it from the close lookalike. Identification should use these characters together rather than a sales name.
