Overview
L231 is a large, unresolved Hypostomus requiring substantial floor space for long-term housing. Juvenile size is a poor guide to its eventual needs. Whether L231 and L266 represent the same species remains uncertain.
Distribution & habitat
It is reportedly exported from the upper Amazon region of Peru. Precise collecting localities and natural habitat details have not been established.
Aquarium setup
Allow a footprint of at least approximately 180 × 60 cm for long-term care, planning around adult requirements.
Notes
Both L231 and L266 are codes for unidentified fishes. Their possible equivalence is unresolved, and trade labels do not substitute for identification. Diet or breeding information for another numbered Hypostomus should not be transferred solely on the basis of genus.
