L229 是巴西的未描述木食性异型，也曾以 violet 或 bruno plec 商品名出售。相对耐养，但前提是提供适合成鱼的空间、足量沉木和充足氧气，不能把“易养”理解成可以忽略体量和食性。
分布与栖息地
特有于巴西，生活在河流、溪流有水流的部分，常在沉木周围及缝隙中活动。
饲养环境
宽敞缸中优先铺沙，放较大沉木形成暗处和藏身空间。光线宜弱，浮水植物可用来遮蔽，种植水草则可能被啃食。
水中需有足够溶氧和适当流动。沉木不能只作装饰，还应一直供鱼摄食。
食性与喂食
主要吃木材，没有木材难以保持良好状态。蔬菜如黄瓜、西葫芦和焯菠菜，以及沉底干粮可以补充菜单，但不能替代木材。
习性与混养
性情温和，可与合适的大型脂鲤、鲤科鱼、温和慈鲷和其他鲶鱼混养。它领地意识不强，可以同种群养或与其他温和异型共处。
对小型鱼而言，较大的体形仍可能造成压迫，温和并不等于任何尺寸伙伴都适合。

Overview
L229 is an undescribed Brazilian wood-eating pleco also traded as the violet or bruno plec. Relative hardiness depends on adult-sized quarters, a continuing supply of wood, and adequate oxygen. Easy care should not be mistaken for negligible space or dietary needs.
Distribution & habitat
Endemic to Brazil, it occupies flowing river and stream sections, living around submerged wood and its crevices.
Aquarium setup
Use spacious quarters, preferably with sand, and large pieces of wood creating shaded refuges. Keep lighting subdued. Floating cover is useful, while rooted plants may be eaten.
Maintain plenty of dissolved oxygen and water movement. Wood must remain available as food as well as decoration.
Diet & feeding
The main food is wood, without which good condition is difficult to maintain. Vegetables such as cucumber, zucchini, and blanched spinach, together with sinking preparations, supplement the diet rather than replacing wood.
Behaviour & compatibility
Its amicable nature permits suitable larger characins, cyprinids, peaceful cichlids, and other catfishes. It is nonterritorial and can live with conspecifics or other gentle plecos.
Small companions may still be intimidated by its bulk. Peaceful behavior does not make every size combination suitable.

No practical captive breeding account is available.
Notes
L229 belongs to the Hypostomus cochliodon complex, characterized in adults by a humped profile and spoon-shaped teeth. Its resemblance to Panaque in feeding and some anatomical features reflects independent evolution, not interchangeable genus names.
Inspect abdominal fullness and watch for sunken eyes when selecting fish, since obvious emaciation should not be overlooked.
