似绞口旋齿鲶（Hypostomus plecostomoides，LDA42、LDA38）是专门取食木材的异型，成熟后背部隆起、牙齿呈匙状。与几种近似鱼仅凭外观不易区分，采集地点往往是重要线索。
分布与栖息地
分布于哥伦比亚和委内瑞拉奥里诺科河水系，常在有水流的溪河中围绕沉木生活。
饲养环境
参考约 120 × 45 × 45 厘米的宽敞鱼缸，沙底配大块沉木，兼作食源与遮蔽。弱光较合适，浮水植物可遮阴，其他水草可能被吃。保持高含氧量和较充足的水流。
食性与喂食
必须长期获得可啃食木材，不能只把沉木当可有可无的摆设。可补黄瓜、西葫芦、菠菜等蔬菜与下沉干粮。购鱼检查腹部和眼部是否凹陷，避免忽视消瘦。
习性与混养
性情友善且不具明显领地性，可与同种群体及其他温和异型共处，前提是空间和氧气需求得到满足。大型温和鱼可作伙伴，小鱼则可能被它的体形吓到。
雌雄区分
分性不容易，成熟雌鱼从上方看可能稍宽。
繁殖
野外在雨季利用河岸深洞产卵，这一自然繁殖方式不能等同于已建立的家庭缸繁殖流程。
补充说明
食木时使用的匙状牙和隆背外形与一些其他食木异型相似，并不代表它们就是同一种鱼。胸鳍齿状棘可能挂网，搬动应小心。

Overview
A wood-feeding specialist, Hypostomus plecostomoides (LDA42/LDA38) develops a humped profile and spoon-shaped teeth. Several close look-alikes are difficult to separate visually, making reliable collection locality valuable for identification.
Distribution & habitat
It occurs throughout the Orinoco drainage in Colombia and Venezuela, living in and around submerged wood in flowing rivers and streams.
Aquarium setup
An aquarium around 120 by 45 by 45 cm offers the suggested starting space. Sand and substantial wood provide both habitat and food. Keep light subdued, with floating shade if desired; other vegetation may be eaten. Well-oxygenated water and good movement are important.
Diet & feeding
Maintain access to wood as a feeding resource rather than optional decoration. Supplement it with vegetables such as cucumber, zucchini, or spinach and accepted sinking prepared foods. Check prospective fish for a hollow abdomen or sunken eyes, signs of poor condition.
Behaviour & compatibility
It is notably nonterritorial and can coexist with its own kind or other peaceful loricariids when space and oxygen needs are met. Suitable larger fishes can share the aquarium, while much smaller companions may be intimidated by its bulk.
Sexual dimorphism
Sexing is uncertain, though mature females appear slightly broader from above.
Breeding
Wild fish spawn in deep riverbank holes during the wet season. That natural history does not establish a proven home-aquarium breeding method.
Notes
Similar feeding adaptations occur in other wood-eating plecos and should not be mistaken for proof of identical species. Pectoral odontodes can snag netting during handling.
