概述
Hyphessobrycon auca 是只在伊贝拉湿地两处池塘确认的小型灯鱼，外观接近其他常见类型，但不能只靠整体轮廓判断身份。雄鱼部分鳍上的小钩和牙齿结构是鉴别线索。
分布与栖息地
确认地点位于阿根廷北部科连特斯省伊贝拉湿地，两池坐落于巴拉那河过去形成的沙洲上。采集时为清澈、很软、轻度酸性的雨水补给池塘，导电率低，底部是砂，并有沉水植物及边缘浮水植物。
这些是采集地点的实测环境，不代表已经确定全年所有饲养参数。
雌雄区分
雄鱼背鳍、尾鳍和胸鳍可见小钩状结构。它们也有鉴别近似种的价值，但不应凭远距离照片就假定能看清这些细节。
补充说明
与近似鱼区分还依赖上颌单枚牙的齿尖数及下颌比例。不能因为外形相似，就直接沿用另一种的食性、繁殖或混养习惯。

Overview
Known from only two Iberá wetland ponds, Hyphessobrycon auca resembles more familiar tetras. Overall appearance is insufficient for identification; small male fin hooks and details of the teeth help distinguish it.
Distribution & habitat
The ponds lie in Corrientes, northern Argentina, on an old Paraná sand deposit. At collection they held transparent, very soft, mildly acidic rain-fed water with low conductivity. Sand supported submerged plants, with floating vegetation around the margins.
These observations describe collection conditions rather than a complete year-round captive parameter range.
Sexual dimorphism
Males possess small hooks on the dorsal, caudal, and pectoral fins. These also help separate similar species, although they may not be visible in ordinary distant photographs.
Notes
Distinguishing characters also include the cusps of the single maxillary tooth and jaw proportions. Similar appearance does not establish identical feeding, breeding, or compatibility.
