习性与混养
对体形相近、温和的鱼通常友善，但任何能吞下的缸友都有被吃的风险。“性格温和”不代表对小鱼安全。可考虑适当的大型鲤科鱼、脂鲤或其他大鲶，但这样的混养设施必须比单鱼所需大得多。

Overview
Horabagrus brachysoma is a large catfish with roughly circular dark shoulder marks. Juveniles are often marketed as general community fish, but adults require much more space and belong only with suitably large companions.
Distribution & habitat
It is native to Kerala in southwestern India, where sluggish tributaries and backwaters provide its habitat.
Aquarium setup
Even one fish needs accommodation around 180 × 60 × 60 cm, approximately 648 L. Groups and large-fish communities require more. Its nocturnal habits favor subdued lighting and substantial retreats made from wood, branches, rocks, or appropriately sized pipes.
Secure decorations or choose pieces too heavy for the fish to shift. Adult waste production requires a large, efficient biological filter.
Diet & feeding
Natural foods include small fishes, invertebrates, and plant material. Live feeder fish are unnecessary. Most individuals accept food readily; combine pellets with frozen shrimp, mussels, and earthworms rather than relying on one ingredient.
Behaviour & compatibility
It is generally placid toward similarly sized peaceful fishes, yet any companion small enough to swallow is at risk. A mild disposition therefore does not make it safe with small fish. Large cyprinids, characins, or other substantial catfishes may be considered, but housing for such a community must greatly exceed the needs of one specimen.
Conspecifics ordinarily coexist without squabbling. It can be kept alone or in a small group when adequate space is available.
Notes
The similar Horabagrus nigricollaris remains smaller. Here the shoulder marking is approximately round; in that species it extends across the top of the body like a dark collar. Checking this distinction while fish are young helps avoid underestimating their eventual housing requirements.
