概述

A black flank line reaching forward to behind the eye and an unpigmented dorsal fin help identify Hemiodus ternetzi. This active shoaling fish needs a long aquarium despite being smaller than some relatives.
Distribution & habitat
Known range is restricted to Brazil’s Tocantins basin, where it inhabits floodplain rivers and lakes.
Aquarium setup
Use inert sand with roots and branches, or provide a planted setting. Floating plants can ease nervousness, while a group of its own kind helps it settle. Maintain ample oxygen and consistently good water quality.
