现有资料认为尚无人工繁殖记录，并推测可能在洞内产卵，但不能据生境直接确定繁殖方式。

Overview
Hemiancistrus guahiborum, traded as L106, is a spotted pleco with orange fin edging. Oxygenated moving water and individual retreats are important, particularly when maintaining more than one fish.
Distribution & habitat
It is known only from the Orinoco drainage in Venezuela, where it lives among rocks in flowing water.
Aquarium setup
Allow at least a 120 × 30 cm footprint. Sand or gravel with rounded rocks can recreate a stream setting and provide crevices. Plants may be included, but their needs must not override oxygenation and water movement; not every plant tolerates those conditions.
Diet & feeding
Wild fish consume aufwuchs and small aquatic crustaceans, and captive fish are described as omnivorous. Combine sinking prepared foods with live or frozen bloodworms, water fleas, and similar items. Grazing behavior does not justify waiting for incidental algae to meet all feeding needs.
Behaviour & compatibility
Choose companions suited to the same moving, oxygen-rich water. Multiple fish require separate refuges, and territorial disputes should be expected. Sharing a natural drainage does not guarantee compatibility at arbitrary aquarium densities.
Breeding
Aquarium reproduction is not thought to have occurred. Cave spawning is proposed from its habitat rather than confirmed, so no definite breeding procedure is established.
Notes
Whether L106 and undescribed L122 represent the same species remains debated; the flatter shape of L122 may indicate a distinction. Keep their records separate unless identity is resolved. Reliable sexual differences are not provided, so criteria from other plecos should not be applied automatically.
