食性与喂食
属于不挑食的杂食鱼，可轮换活饵、冷冻饵和颗粒饲料，避免长期仅一种食物。

Overview
Clarotes laticeps is a large predatory catfish capable of swallowing substantial prey. It requires exceptionally spacious accommodation, so the size of a juvenile is a poor guide to whether it belongs in a home aquarium.
Distribution & habitat
Records cover much of Africa, from Senegal and Guinea eastward to Egypt and several East African countries. Large rivers and lakes provide its natural habitat.
Aquarium setup
An aquarium around 150 × 60 × 60 cm, approximately 540 L, is only a starting minimum for a subadult. Further enlargement may become necessary as it grows. Use subdued illumination and preferably a soft sand bottom. Elaborate decoration is unnecessary, especially because a heavy fish can shift movable objects. Large rounded stones and substantial wood are more practical; plants should be placed in heavy containers.
The waste load demands a large, efficient filtration system.
Diet & feeding
This is an undemanding omnivore. Rotate live offerings, frozen foods, and pellets to provide variety instead of relying on a single item.
Behaviour & compatibility
Predation is a major consideration, extending well beyond tiny fishes. Choose companions cautiously and aim for individuals larger than the catfish itself. Even giant gouramis, arowanas, or large cyprinids are possibilities only where accommodation is sufficiently spacious.
Notes
It is uncommon in ordinary aquarium commerce and its eventual size places substantial demands on a keeper. A minimum quoted for a subadult should not be interpreted as permanent housing for a full-grown fish.
