食性与喂食

有领地性、攻击性中等，较小同缸鱼会被吃掉。同种群养或大型混养只在极大的设施中才有实现空间，对大型伙伴仍应观察实际相容性。
雌雄区分
雄鱼较大，性成熟时头部形成隆起。

Overview
Among the largest peacock bass, Cichla temensis can approach one meter. Small juveniles give a misleading impression of the eventual commitment. Public installations or exceptionally large private systems are the realistic settings for adults.
Distribution & habitat
Records cover the Negro, Uatumã and Orinoco systems in northern South America, across Brazil, Colombia, Guyana and Venezuela.
Aquarium setup
Plan adult housing from roughly 3.05 m long, 1.22 m wide and 0.91 m high, with additional room for any companions. Juvenile tanks are temporary. Keep decoration limited so it does not consume the swimming area. Powerful external or sump filtration and consistent maintenance are necessary for a fish of this scale.
Diet & feeding
Its natural feeding is piscivorous. Suitable fish flesh, shrimp and mussels provide examples of the animal foods used in captivity, sized appropriately as it grows.
Behaviour & compatibility
It is territorial and moderately aggressive, and small companions are prey. Keeping several together or mixing large species requires exceptional space and does not guarantee peaceful coexistence.
Sexual dimorphism
Males become larger and develop a forehead hump as they mature.
Notes
It is also sought as a sport fish. Broad peacock-bass trade labels should not replace species identification or planning for eventual adult size.
