分布与栖息地
原生范围包括南美北部的圭亚那、苏里南、法属圭亚那和巴西。新加坡与美国等地的野外种群为引入，不代表原生分布。
饲养环境
成鱼需约长 3.05 米、宽 1.22 米、高 0.91 米或更大的设施，更适合公共展缸。幼鱼临时缸不能替代成年规划。布置疏朗，留大面积泳道，少量大型沉木与结实水草即可；外滤或底滤须有足够能力处理较大排污负荷。
食性与喂食
天然鱼食性，可提供虾肉、贻贝、小型海鱼或其他合适白肉鱼等多样动物性食物，食物大小按个体选择。
习性与混养
有领地性、攻击性中等，会吞食足够小的同缸鱼。只有极大型缸才可能考虑同种群体或其他大型鱼，即使对方吞不下，也仍需评估领地冲突。

Overview
Juvenile Cichla ocellaris can look manageable in a shop, but adults reach around seventy-five centimeters. Long-term accommodation should be available before purchase. Its size and waste load put it in the realm of experienced keepers with exceptional facilities.
Distribution & habitat
The native range includes Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Brazil. Established populations in countries such as Singapore and the United States are introduced.
Aquarium setup
Adult housing is on the scale of roughly 3.05 m long, 1.22 m wide and 0.91 m high or larger. Public-aquarium accommodation is more realistic than an ordinary home tank. Keep furnishings sparse and preserve broad swimming lanes. External or sump filtration must be capable of handling substantial waste.
Diet & feeding
Naturally piscivorous, it should receive a varied animal-based diet. Shrimp, mussels and suitable fish flesh are examples, with portions matched to the individual.
Behaviour & compatibility
Territorial and moderately aggressive, it will consume smaller tankmates. Groups or substantial companions are options only in exceptionally large quarters, and size alone does not remove territorial conflict.
Sexual dimorphism
Males grow larger and develop a forehead hump with maturity.
