概述
Channa sp. 'five stripe' 是体侧上部有五条斜暗带的未定种雷龙。它需要明确冬夏季变化，雄鱼会口孵，缸内繁殖已有多次记录；贸易中带 Kerala 的名字并不能证明它来自印度西南部。
分布与栖息地
据称采自印度西孟加拉邦 Alipurduar 附近，靠近不丹边界，可能属于 Buxa 保护区或其南侧区域。具体采集范围仍带不确定性，将它归到巴基斯坦边境或喀拉拉邦的贸易说法并不可靠。
这一带属于喜马拉雅山东部山麓和冲积平原，季风湿季明显，冬季夜晚偏冷。结合外观和有限生境线索，它可能适应在石块间或石下生活，但不能据此认定已掌握完整微生境。
饲养环境
一对建议至少约 90 × 30 cm 底面积，群养需要更大环境，水深不低于 30 cm。弱光、浮水植物和水下隐蔽处有助于安全感。使用严密缸盖防逃，并留出水面上的湿润空气层，供鱼上浮呼吸。
不能全年保持同一温度，应安排明确冷季和暖季。较冷时食量下降，水位可自然回落，不必持续补到原高度；季节变化应纳入平时的饲养安排。
食性与喂食
它是专性捕食者，野外可能吃小鱼和昆虫。多数个体可转食非活体饵料，幼鱼可用红虫、小蚯蚓及碎虾，成鱼可提供鱼肉条、整虾、贝肉、活河虾和较大蚯蚓。干粮即使能接受，也不宜作为主食。
不喂牛心、鸡肉等禽畜肉，普通活饲料鱼也不是必要选择，可能增加病原和寄生虫输入。选择多种适口食物，比依赖单一种类更适合长期饲养。
习性与混养
以专养缸为宜。成对饲养所需空间不能当作群养尺度，增加个体时需要更大环境和更多遮蔽。

Overview
Channa sp. 'five stripe' is an unidentified snakehead marked by five oblique dark bars on each upper flank. It requires defined winter and summer periods and is a paternal mouthbrooder with repeated captive breeding records. Trade names containing Kerala do not establish a southwestern Indian origin.
Distribution & habitat
Reported collections come from around Alipurduar in West Bengal near Bhutan, possibly within Buxa Tiger Reserve or the area immediately south. The precise range remains uncertain. Claims involving the Pakistan border or Kerala are unreliable geographical labels.
The area lies among eastern Himalayan foothills and floodplains, with a pronounced monsoon and cold winter nights. Pattern and limited habitat clues suggest possible use of spaces beneath and between rocks, without establishing a complete microhabitat description.
Aquarium setup
Allow at least about 90 × 30 cm for a pair, more for a group, and water no shallower than 30 cm. Dim light, floating vegetation, and submerged refuges provide security. Fit a tight escape-proof lid while leaving humid air above the water and access for surface breathing.
Do not maintain one temperature all year. Provide a recognizable cool season and warm season, feeding less in the former. The water level may decline naturally instead of being continually topped up. Seasonality belongs in routine husbandry.
Diet & feeding
An obligate predator, it probably eats smaller fishes and insects in nature. Most specimens adapt to nonliving food. Juveniles can receive bloodworms, small earthworms, and chopped shrimp; adults accept fish strips, whole shrimp, mussels, live river shrimp, and larger earthworms. Dry foods should not become the staple even when accepted.
Avoid beef heart, chicken, and other mammalian or bird meat. Routine feeder fish are unnecessary and may introduce parasites or pathogens. Maintain variety among suitable foods instead of depending on one item.
Behaviour & compatibility
A dedicated aquarium is preferable. The space recommended for a pair does not establish adequate group housing; additional individuals need larger quarters and more cover.
Sexual dimorphism
Females tend to be larger and deeper-bodied, particularly when carrying eggs.
Breeding
The male mouthbroods, and captive reproduction occurs fairly regularly. Retain the annual cool–warm cycle instead of treating warm-season breeding conditions as a permanent temperature regime.
Notes
The five oblique upper-flank bars give the provisional form its familiar label. Historical names such as Kerala, Kerala five stripe, and umangii do not resolve the formal species identity. Provenance and photographs remain useful for future comparison.
