概述
迈氏飞脂鲤（Carnegiella myersi）是十分娇小的淡水斧头鱼，腹部轮廓较浅而圆，整体比不少近缘种显得修长。它胆小、体质较敏感，需要安静的成熟鱼缸和至少六尾同伴。
分布与栖息地
见于秘鲁亚马孙盆地，模式产地在尤里马瓜斯附近的小溪；玻利维亚另有种群，体形据描述比秘鲁种群更深。主要栖于森林中阴暗、浅而狭小的溪流。
饲养环境
水面面积至少约 50 × 30 cm。过滤系统必须成熟，浮水植物提供遮蔽，同时保留清晰的水面泳道。照明偏弱、水流尽量轻，让鱼能在水面轻松停留。
缸盖必须严密，开盖喂食等小扰动也可能引起跳跃。沉木、干落叶可增加自然结构和微生物生长条件，但不能以装饰替代稳定的水质。
食性与喂食
自然以水面小昆虫为食。通常接受适口的漂浮薄片、微颗粒、小型干昆虫及红虫，无翅果蝇也是合适的活饵选择。
习性与混养
非常温和，却不适合与活跃、强势的鱼同缸。可评估相近大小的温和脂鲤及小型底栖鲶鱼；同属其他斧头鱼也可共同生活。
至少六尾，有条件可增加，但仍需保证水面空间。群体需求不能由其他物种的陪伴完全替代。
雌雄区分
从上方看更丰满的个体可能是雌鱼，但这一判断仍属推测。
补充说明
缸内繁殖尚无可靠记录。斧头鱼所谓“飞行”实为依靠强健胸部肌肉跃出水面，并非在空中持续拍鳍推进。即便白天少见跳跃，也不能在夜间留下敞开的缸盖。

Overview
Carnegiella myersi is a minute, delicate freshwater hatchetfish. Its shallow rounded keel produces a relatively elongated outline. Quiet, mature accommodation and a group of at least six are more appropriate than a lively general community.
Distribution & habitat
The Peruvian Amazon population includes the type locality near Yurimaguas. A second population in Bolivia has been described as deeper-bodied. Small, shaded, shallow forest streams form its typical habitat.
Aquarium setup
Provide at least about 50 × 30 cm of surface area. Use mature biological filtration, floating shade, and clear surface lanes. Low light and minimal current allow fish to remain near the surface without constant effort.
Seal the top carefully. Even disturbance while opening it to feed may trigger jumping. Wood and dry leaves can add structure and microbial habitat but do not substitute for stable water conditions.
Diet & feeding
Small surface insects form the natural diet. Suitable floating flakes, micropellets, small dried insects, and bloodworms are generally accepted. Wingless fruit flies are useful live offerings.
Behaviour & compatibility
It is very peaceful but unsuitable for active or assertive companions. Similar-sized placid characins and small bottom-dwelling catfishes are possible partners, as are other members of its own genus.
Maintain no fewer than six, with more where surface space permits. Other species do not replace the need for conspecific company.
Sexual dimorphism
A fuller outline viewed from above is presumed to indicate a female, but remains an uncertain distinction.
Notes
Reliable aquarium breeding records are unavailable. The apparent flight of hatchetfishes is a muscular leap rather than sustained fin-powered movement through the air. Infrequent daytime jumping does not justify leaving the cover open overnight.
