概述
米斯氏小油鲶（Brachyrhamdia meesi）是体型小巧、贸易中不常见的鲶鱼，有时混在其他小型鲶鱼的货批中。幼鱼可能模仿小精灵或小型鼠鱼的外观，但须明显较长、身体缺少鼠鱼那样的骨板，不能只凭花纹把它当成鼠鱼。
分布与栖息地
模式地点在巴西帕拉州亚马孙河口附近的贝伦，确切分布仍不清楚。另有远在秘鲁东南部马德雷德迪奥斯河流域的记录，因此不能把贝伦周边等同于已确认的全部范围。
饲养环境
底面至少参考 80 × 30 厘米，细砂配沉木枝根，适量耐阴水草可增加层次。它不耐有机废物积累，规律每周部分换水和清洁维护非常重要，不能等到水明显变浑才处理。
食性与喂食
同属鱼天然主要取食底栖无脊椎动物，人工可规律喂丰年虾、水蚤、红虫等活饵或冷冻饵，也能使用沉底干饲料。不能因外观类似小精灵就只提供藻类食物。
习性与混养
通常没有明显攻击性，但特别小的鱼可能被吃掉。并不需要专门搭配鼠鱼群才能饲养；同属鱼通常不是紧密群居，缸不太小则往往可以养多尾，安排时仍应留意空间。
雌雄区分
成熟雌鱼预计身体较饱满，雄鱼相对修长。
繁殖
本种尚未有人工繁殖记录。近亲曾在同缸鼠鱼开始产卵后出现繁殖行为，但这种先后关系不能当作本种已验证的诱产方法。

Overview
A small and uncommon aquarium catfish, Brachyrhamdia meesi may arrive mixed with other catfish shipments. Juveniles may resemble small armored catfish, but longer barbels and the absence of body plates help reveal the difference. Pattern alone can be misleading.
Distribution & habitat
It was described from near Belém at the Brazilian Amazon mouth. Exact distribution remains uncertain, with a distant record in the Madre de Dios basin of southeastern Peru. The type locality should not be mistaken for a fully established range boundary.
Aquarium setup
Provide a footprint of at least 80 by 30 cm, with fine sand, roots, and branches. Tolerant plants can be included. Organic-waste accumulation is poorly tolerated, making weekly partial water changes and consistent maintenance essential.
Diet & feeding
The genus feeds mainly on bottom-dwelling invertebrates. Aquarium offerings include regular Artemia, daphnia, and bloodworms, with sinking dry foods also accepted. Its resemblance to other small catfish should not determine an algae-only diet.
Behaviour & compatibility
Generally nonaggressive, it may nevertheless consume very small fish. Keeping it with a cory-type group is unnecessary. Members of the genus are not strongly social, although several can often coexist when the aquarium is sufficiently spacious.
Sexual dimorphism
Mature females are expected to appear noticeably fuller-bodied than males.
Breeding
Captive spawning is unrecorded for this species. A congener spawned after accompanying armored catfish began breeding, but that sequence does not establish a proven induction method here.
