四川爬岩鳅（Beaufortia szechuanensis）来自长江上游水系，扁平头身和展开的偶鳍适合贴附急流石面。缸内应提供成熟的岩石觅食面，避免在新缸里仅靠零散藻点维持。
分布与栖息地
原生于中国西南长江上游，四川等地支流有记录，模式地点在峨眉一带。同属典型环境为浅而富氧的上游急流，砂砾、石块和大卵石相间，水草通常不多，石面附着生物丰富。
饲养环境
底面积可参考 75 × 30 厘米。用大小圆石提供觅食与遮蔽位置，砂或砾均可作底床。强过滤与增氧很重要，每小时循环可参考水体的 10–15 倍，光照要足以支持藻膜。已浸透沉木、耐受附生植物及外露海绵可增加表面；新沉木大量染水会削弱光照。只入成熟缸，定期部分换水并严密加盖。
食性与喂食
可能主要刮食藻类及伴生微生物。优质干粮、富含蔬菜和螺旋藻的凝胶食物可补充，少量红虫等可以吃，但高蛋白过量可能造成健康问题。硅藻和柔软绿藻比黑毛藻更有用；不足时可单独培育长藻石轮换。极瘦个体需要无竞争的持续供食才能恢复。
习性与混养
同属一般不算好斗，但相似吸鳅可能争执。选择适应流水和高溶氧的伙伴，别只因商家把它当清洁鱼就放进金鱼缸。
雌雄区分
近亲贵州爬岩鳅（Beaufortia kweichowensis）有雌鱼宽厚、雄鱼较纤细且吻方的差别，但这套外形判断尚不能直接当成本种已确认的分性方法。
补充说明
扁平头身及横向偶鳍帮助同属鱼形成贴附结构，使其更多沿石面爬行而非在开阔水中持续游动。相似体形不能替代物种核对。

Overview
From the upper Yangtze basin, Beaufortia szechuanensis has a flattened clinging form suited to rocky current. Its aquarium needs established grazing area rather than the sparse new growth of an immature tank.
Distribution & habitat
It is recorded from upper Yangtze tributaries in southwestern China, with the type locality in the Emei area of Sichuan. Genus-level habitat descriptions emphasize shallow oxygenated headwaters, mixed rocky substrates, limited aquatic vegetation, and rich surface growth.
Aquarium setup
A 75 by 30 cm footprint can be arranged with differently sized rounded rocks over sand or gravel. Use effective filtration and oxygenation, aiming at the suggested turnover of 10–15 tank volumes per hour. Light must support grazing growth. Seasoned wood, tolerant plants, and accessible sponge surfaces add feeding area, while heavily staining fresh wood is less useful. Maintain stable mature water and a secure cover.
Diet & feeding
It likely grazes algae and associated microorganisms. Suitable dry foods and vegetable-rich gels supplement natural growth; animal prey can be offered without letting protein dominate. Diatoms and soft green algae are more useful than tough brush algae. A separate rock-growing setup can replenish grazing surfaces, and severely thin fish need food free from competition.
Behaviour & compatibility
Genus-level guidance describes limited aggression, with possible squabbles among similar loaches. Companion choice should follow the current and oxygen requirements; a generic cleaner label does not make it suitable for goldfish tanks.
Sexual dimorphism
Head and body differences used to sex B. kweichowensis can suggest comparisons, but their application to this species remains unconfirmed.
Notes
The genus’ flattened profile and horizontal paired fins favor clinging and crawling across rock surfaces. Shared body design should not be confused with proof of species identity.
