概述
圆体爬岩鳅（Beaufortia cyclica）记录于中国南部少数溪流地点。扁平的头身和展开的偶鳍帮助它贴附石面，饲养要围绕高溶氧、成熟附着生物和足够的岩石表面积安排。
分布与栖息地
已知地点在广西西江水系，以及云南东南部富宁县的驮娘江水系。同属典型环境是浅而急的上游溪流，石块、砂砾和较大卵石交错，清澈富氧的水和光照共同支持附着生物生长。
饲养环境
底面积可参考 80 × 30 厘米。砂砾底铺不同大小的光滑石块，用强过滤和增氧维持水流，每小时循环可参考水体的 10–15 倍。照明要能培养藻膜，避免新沉木大量染水削弱照明；耐受的附生植物可增加遮蔽。只入成熟缸，定期部分换水，保留多数表面的附着物，并盖严以防攀爬逸出。
食性与喂食
天然食物可能以底栖藻类及附生微生物为主。缸内可接受优质干粮及少量红虫等，但过多动物蛋白可能带来问题；蔬菜、螺旋藻占比较高的凝胶饲料可作补充。硅藻和柔软绿藻较合适，不能期待它处理坚硬黑毛藻。主缸藻量不足时，可另培长藻石轮换，消瘦个体先减少竞争并持续供食。
习性与混养
同属鱼一般不强烈攻击其他鱼，但混养伙伴仍要适应急流、高溶氧环境；相似吸鳅之间可能争执。它不适合作为金鱼缸的常规伴鱼。
雌雄区分
贵州爬岩鳅（Beaufortia kweichowensis）中雌鱼较宽厚、吻圆，雄鱼较纤细、吻方；这些只能作为近亲的比较线索，不能直接当成本种已经确认的分性方法。
补充说明
本种的分类地位仍有异名争议。辨认不宜仅凭市场上的“蝴蝶鳅”等泛称，更不能因外形相似就把近亲的繁殖记录套用过来。

Overview
Known from relatively few southern Chinese localities, Beaufortia cyclica has the flattened, clinging form of a hillstream loach. Oxygen-rich water, mature grazing surfaces, and ample rock area are central to its aquarium care.
Distribution & habitat
Records come from the Xi drainage in Guangxi and the Tuoniang system in southeastern Yunnan. Genus-level habitat accounts describe shallow, fast headwaters over rock, sand, and gravel, where clear oxygenated water and sunlight support rich surface growth.
Aquarium setup
An 80 by 30 cm footprint can hold varied smooth rocks over sand or gravel. Strong filtration and aeration should support a reference turnover of 10–15 tank volumes per hour. Provide light for surface growth and avoid wood that heavily stains the water. Hardy attached plants offer extra cover. Use a biologically mature system, perform regular partial changes, and secure the cover against climbing escapes.
Diet & feeding
The likely natural diet consists largely of algae and associated microorganisms. Prepared foods and some animal prey are accepted, but excessive protein may cause problems. Vegetable-rich gel food is useful alongside diatoms and soft green growth. If grazing surfaces are depleted, rotate rocks from a separate algae culture. Weakened specimens need reliable food without competition.
Behaviour & compatibility
Genus-level accounts describe generally nonaggressive fishes, although similar loaches may squabble. Match companions to the demanding water conditions rather than treating it as a routine goldfish companion.
Sexual dimorphism
The broad female outline and squarer male snout used in B. kweichowensis are comparative clues only. Their reliability for sexing this species has not been established.
Notes
Its taxonomic status has been questioned, and broad trade labels do not establish identity. Similar external form is also insufficient grounds for applying another species’ breeding records.
