食性与喂食
野外似乎取食无脊椎动物和较小的鱼。缸中宜供应大小适口的活饵和冷冻饵料，搭配优质干饲料，形成多样化食谱。
习性与混养
建议至少八至十条成群饲养。可选择其他小型脂鲤、短鲷和性情温和的鼠鱼、异型鱼作为同伴，不要与大型或攻击性强的鱼混养。它温和的性情并不意味着可以忽略群体数量和溶氧。
雌雄区分
性成熟雌鱼的身体通常比雄鱼更厚实丰满。
繁殖

Overview
Astyanax leopoldi is a peaceful schooling characid that appears infrequently in the aquarium trade. A substantial group and well-oxygenated water are useful priorities. Large or aggressive tankmates can overwhelm it.
Distribution & habitat
It comes from the Approuague and Oyapock drainages in French Guiana and northern Brazil. Fast-flowing waters are typical habitat, but the fish gather in large groups along margins or in other calmer sections rather than occupying only the strongest current.
Aquarium setup
Several layouts are suitable. A stream-style aquarium can combine gravel, smooth stones, and appreciable flow, while planted or Amazon-inspired arrangements also work. Given its river habitat, good oxygenation is considered important for long-term care. Include quieter places within the layout as well as open swimming space.
Diet & feeding
The natural diet apparently includes invertebrates and smaller fishes. Provide plenty of small live and frozen foods, supplemented with quality dry products. A varied selection is preferable to an exclusively dry menu.
Behaviour & compatibility
Keep at least eight to ten together. Small characids, dwarf cichlids, and peaceful armored catfishes can make suitable companions. Avoid fishes that are substantially larger or aggressive. Its calm temperament makes it useful in an appropriate community, but does not remove its need for a social group.
Sexual dimorphism
Mature females have a heavier body than males, especially around the abdomen.
Breeding
Captive breeding apparently has occurred, although a dependable account of the spawning and rearing procedure is unavailable.
