繁殖

Overview
A small armored catfish reaching about 3.5 cm, Aspidoras pauciradiatus is distinguished partly by its reduced dorsal-fin ray count. Its peaceful social habits suit group keeping in a mature, stable aquarium.
Distribution & habitat
The type locality lies near Aruanã on the Araguaia River in Goiás, Brazil. The known range appears limited to the upper part of that drainage.
Aquarium setup
Provide at least a 60 by 30 cm footprint with fine sand or carefully maintained rounded gravel. Add cover for security. Stable, clean conditions are important, so introduce the fish only after biological filtration is established.
Diet & feeding
Feed directly with sinking prepared foods and small live or frozen supplements. This omnivorous forager needs varied, deliberate feeding and should not depend on scraps from tankmates.
Behaviour & compatibility
Keep a group of at least four to six; this is a peaceful, gregarious fish.
Sexual dimorphism
Females are generally larger and broader-bodied at maturity, particularly when carrying eggs.
Breeding
Spawning resembles that of related cory catfishes. A substantial change with cooler water can encourage it, especially during falling atmospheric pressure.
Notes
Six soft dorsal-fin rays, rather than the seven typical of other Aspidoras, provide a useful identification character alongside the color pattern.
