Overview
The killifish identified as Aphyosemion sp. 'Oyo' RPC 91/8 originates from an aquarium collection made near Oyo. A dedicated breeding group, with its collection label retained, is the preferred approach while its identity remains unresolved.
Distribution & habitat
Fish were collected near Oyo in the Republic of the Congo's Cuvette department in 1991. The town stands beside the Alima, which enters the middle Congo from the right bank.
The precise habitat was not documented. Quiet tributaries, backwaters, or pools are considered more plausible than the main channel, and Epiplatys multifasciatus was recorded alongside it.
Aquarium setup
Allow a floor area of approximately 45 × 30 cm or more for a pair or trio. Use a dark bottom, substantial planted shelter, and wood. Floating vegetation helps shade the water. Escape prevention is essential: this capable jumper needs a closely fitted cover.
Diet & feeding
Small live and frozen foods, including water fleas and bloodworms, are favored. Good prepared flakes are also accepted by most fish, so feeding can combine suitable prepared foods with the preferred small prey items.
Behaviour & compatibility
