Overview
Aphyosemion mimbon is a small killifish associated with headwater drainages in northwestern Gabon. An extension across the border into Equatorial Guinea remains possible rather than confirmed.
Distribution & habitat
The original collection was made in a small Mvé tributary passing through Akoga. Other regional records concern headwaters of the Abanga, Mbei, Komo, and Nkam. Southeastern Equatorial Guinea may also hold the species, but that suggested range should not be treated as an established collection locality.
Notes
Its name derives from “M'bon,” a Fang-language term used for lyretails in northern Gabon.
