Overview
Aphyosemion herzogi, Herzog's lyretail, is a killifish occurring across Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and southern Cameroon. Its original collection in northern Gabon represents only part of the known range.
Distribution & habitat
The type locality is near Zomoko, recorded historically as Zoumoukou. Gabon records include the Ivindo and Okano, both within the Ogooué system. Farther north, it occurs in upper reaches of some Benito tributaries in Equatorial Guinea and in Cameroon's Ntem drainage.
Notes
Wolfgang Herzog is commemorated in the name for his fish-collecting work in Gabon and the specimens and information he supplied.
