Overview
Aphyosemion decorsei, Decorse's lyretail, is associated with the middle Ubangi basin. Its type locality lies in Central African Republic, while extensions into neighboring Congolese regions remain tentative.
Distribution & habitat
The original collection came from Bessou in Lobaye prefecture, within the Ubangi drainage. This major Congo tributary appears to hold the species mainly in its middle reaches. Occurrence in northern Republic of the Congo and adjoining Democratic Republic of the Congo is therefore considered probable, rather than confirmed at every suggested locality.
Notes
The name honors Gaston-Jules Decorse, a French physician and naturalist who assisted in collecting the type material and other fishes from the Ubangi.
