Overview
Aphyosemion congicum, the Congo lyretail, is associated with western Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its type series originated in a commercial shipment, leaving the natural range unconfirmed.
Distribution & habitat
A proposed range lies between the Kwango and its tributary, the Gamba, but this remains tentative. The Kwango feeds the Kasai, which in turn joins the Congo River.
Notes
The species name refers to the Congo. Accurate collection information should be kept distinct from trade origins so that an uncertain range is not mistaken for a verified locality.
