Overview
Aphyosemion bochtleri is a killifish associated with rainforest waterways in northern Gabon. It was formerly merged with another lyretail species, so older identification records may use a different taxonomic treatment.
Distribution & habitat
The original collection came from a rainforest stream near Mintoum. Its range extends more broadly through the upper Ivindo basin, within the larger Ogooué drainage.
Notes
It was treated for years as a synonym of Aphyosemion herzogi but is recognized as a separate species. The name honors Franz Bochtler, the killifish enthusiast who collected the type material.
