概述
Aguarunichthys torosus 是体形粗壮的油鲶科鱼。能吞下的小鱼都会面临捕食风险，同种之间又有很强的领地冲突，因此较适合只养一尾，与体形足够大的河流鱼类搭配。
分布与栖息地
确知分布在秘鲁上亚马孙水系的马拉尼翁河流域，模式产地为塞内帕河。厄瓜多尔流入秘鲁的部分支流也可能有分布，但还不能作为确定范围。
食性与喂食
天然是专门捕食其他鱼的肉食鱼，人工通常能接受优质干粮。仍应搭配白肉鱼条、活蚯蚓及虾等动物性食物。成鱼一般不必每天喂，通常每周两至三餐已足够。
习性与混养
挑选伙伴时要按它能否吞下判断，不能只看幼鱼时期的相处表现。它对同种鱼具有很强的攻击性和领地意识，通常只保留一尾；混养对象优先考虑适应河流环境、体形足够大的鱼。

Overview
A stout pimelodid catfish, Aguarunichthys torosus combines a large feeding gape with strong aggression toward its own kind. One specimen alongside substantially larger river fishes is a more suitable arrangement than a group of conspecifics.
Distribution & habitat
Confirmed records come from Peru's Marañón drainage in the upper Amazon basin, including the Cenepa type locality. Tributaries entering Peru from Ecuador may also support it, but that extension remains uncertain.
Diet & feeding
Other fishes form its natural prey. Quality dry preparations are usually accepted in aquaria, supplemented with white fish pieces, live earthworms, shrimp, and comparable meaty items. Mature fish generally need only two or three meals a week rather than daily feeding.
Behaviour & compatibility
Anything that fits inside the mouth is potential food. Choose companions with that capacity in mind, preferably larger species suited to river conditions. Aggressive territorial interactions make keeping multiple individuals together unsuitable as a routine arrangement.
